#163 – “Teach us to care and not to care. Teach us to sit still.” A line from “Ash Wednesday,” a poem by T.S. Elliot.

It’s wonderful to care about people, want them to do well and help them when you can.  At the same time, it’s necessary to recognize that you cannot make their choices or their decisions and by trying to do so, you could make them angry and actually restrict their ability to learn and grow on their own.

This also reminds me not to get too het up about things I can’t change.

About sand1

When I was young, I made a lot of bad choices. The only way I knew to dig myself and my family out was to go to the library, always hoping that the next book I read would change my life and thankfully, often many of them did. Out of gratitude for the happy life I have now, I decided to share what I have learned, and continue to learn. I hope that Tuesday Tips helps you as much as they have helped and continue to help me.
