#192 – Keep your promises. From: The Four Agreements.

Not keeping your word is one of the quickest ways to lose a friendship, a business or someone’s trust.  Broken promises can hurt your image in your personal life as well as in your work life.   A successful hotelier I interviewed years ago, called people who don’t keep their word, flannel mouths. I think that covers it perfectly.

My favorite bumper sticker:  “Oh no, not another learning experience.”

About sand1

When I was young, I made a lot of bad choices. The only way I knew to dig myself and my family out was to go to the library, always hoping that the next book I read would change my life and thankfully, often many of them did. Out of gratitude for the happy life I have now, I decided to share what I have learned, and continue to learn. I hope that Tuesday Tips helps you as much as they have helped and continue to help me. I think this behavior (especially when dealing with smaller promises) can stem from our nature to overextend ourselves and a desire to please others. I’m guilty of it. This tip is a great reminder to watch myself. I’ll tell myself not to be a flannel mouth. 🙂
